September 29th, 2017 | Category: dances

Join us for a swing dance featuring DJ Ron Waters and DJ Kim Kim!

DJ Ron Waters, Connecticut
Ron has been an avid jazz listener for as long as he can remember. But he noticed that a certain style of music just made him move like nothing else. That turned out to be Swing. In 2001 he discovered Lindy Hop and hasn’t looked back. In 2009, he did his first DJ gig in CT and is now one of the regular DJs at Hartford Underground’s Thursday night dance. He is also a regular contributor to the ‘Hey Mr, Jesse’ podcast, about ‘music that matters to dancers’. “Boston has such a strong Lindy scene. I’m excited to be spinning for this great bunch of dancers ! “, he said.

DJ Kim Kim, Montreal
DJ Kim Kim typically dances, teaches and DJs Lindy Hop and Balboa at Cat’s Corner in Montreal, QC. She loves playing music that gets dancers out on the floor and keeps them there! She’s passionate about swing-era music and aims to energize the dance floor by spinning hard swinging tunes!

Sweet Megg & The Wayfarers

September 08th, 2017 | Category: dances

Sweet Megg and her wayfaring musicians will transport you, not to the past but to a new world of their own making.  The band is lead by the charmingly enigmatic Sweet Megg, who imbues each song with her own concoction of melancholy and euphoria that will delight you, surprise you, and break your heart all at once.  The band seamlessly incorporates elements of New Orleans Swing, Harlem swing, Parisian cabaret, and gut bucket blues into one charming musical performance.  Saxophonist Ryan Weisheit reimagines a world where Sidney Bechet, Lester Young, and Charlie Parker blow side by side.  Together Sweet Megg, Ryan, and all the Wayfarers create a world where jazz is alive and well and living in New York.

Lesson (included w/ price of admission): 8:00pm – 9:00pm
Swing Dancing: 9:00pm – 12:00am
General Admission: $16

DJ Party with DJ Alli-Cat and DJ Dustin Spicuzza

September 01st, 2017 | Category: dances

Join us for a swing dance featuring our local Boston DJs!

DJ Alli-Cat

Allison Wilhelm, or DJ Alli-Cat, has been a swing lover since 2012, when a video game piqued her interest in music from the early to mid 20th Century. It was her interest in the genre that led her to take up swing dancing. Since her interest in old school music is what led her here, it should be no surprise that her sets feature classic swing artists like Cab Calloway, Chick Webb, Artie Shaw, and Ella Fitzgerald, but she also digs the sounds of today’s artists, like Michael Gamble and the Mint Julep Jazz Band. In her DJing, Allison is committed to authenticity, danceability, and diversity.

DJ Dustin Spicuzza

Shortly after becoming addicted to Lindy Hop, Dustin began to collect Lindy Hop related jazz music to feed his passion for interesting and high energy music that really swings. In the fall of 2011 he began to DJ in Boston, Washington DC, Baltimore, and beyond. The energy and driving swinging rhythm he brings to a dance has been well received by dancers of all levels.

Lesson (included w/ price of admission): 8:00pm – 9:00pm
Swing Dancing: 9:00pm – 12:00am
General Admission: $10
Students and Seniors (with Valid ID): $8
