Beginning in 2015, Cecilia Ferneborg sought to bring together some of her favorite musicians to create an experience for dancers meshing small group swing with big band sensibilities. So The Big Time was born and together the group has logged thousands of miles on the road bringing music to lindy and blues dancers across the United States. Members of The Big Time are some of the most sought after musicians in the dance scene and can be seen playing with bandleaders such as Michael Gamble, Joshua Fialkoff, and Jonathan Stout. The Big Time brings excitement and sensuality through jazz standards, reimagined popular songs, blues arrangements, and original music causing an infectious atmosphere for dancing!

World Lindy Hop Day is coming up soon! May 26 is the birthday of the late great lindy hop legend Frankie Manning. Frankie spent the last 20 years of his life inspiring and teaching the Lindy Hop to an entire new generation of swing dancers. For the past few years, swing dance communities have been celebrating May 26 as World Lindy Hop Day, to honor Frankie’s legacy and celebrate all things swing. Come out on Friday (a couple days early) to celebrate World Lindy Hop Day with us!

DJs Dang Mai (first set) and Kevin Lin (second set) are going to spin some swingin’ tunes!

The Easy Winners, BSC favorites, will join us at Q Ballroom for another high energy gig! With their New Orleans inspired hot jazz tunes, they will get you out onto the floor all night! The Easy Winners always get the crowd moving when they play for us and and this Friday will be no exception. Digging deep into their catalog of hits from the past, they’ll light fire to tunes like the 1921 Eddie Cantor hit: “Margie” and Louis Armstrong’s “You Rascal You”.

In honor of International Star Wars Day this weekend, Boston Swing Central is celebrating on Friday with a very Wookie dance featuring our local Boston DJs!

May the Force be with you! Come dressed as your favorite Star Wars character. (optional of course)

The evening will include our epic Star Wars themed competitions!

-The Hans Solo Competition (Solo Charleston)
-The Jedi Draw (mix and match partner dance while blindfolded)

Contests are free to enter! Names will be drawn from a hat to determine who will compete (if the entry numbers are large.)
