One Boston Day with Phil McGowan & The Easy Winners

Category: dances

For the second anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombings, Mayor Marty Walsh is asking everyone to perform one act of kindness as part of what his office is calling One Boston Day. We at Boston Swing Central have put our heads together and thought about positive things we could do for Boston swing dance community on a commemoration of a sad day and decided to go with a 5-before-9: $5 entrance fee for everyone arriving by 9pm on Friday Aug 15th.

We’re also encouraging everyone to “Dress to Impress” for this dance, as we’re going to have a TV news crew in house doing a little piece on the Lindy Hop.  So tell your friends to break out the dapper duds, get dolled up…

We will also be doing a snowball jam in remembrance of Sean Collier, the MIT police officer who had started taking classes at the Whistle Stop (our old dance venue) back in 2013 before he lost his life at the hands of the Marathon bombers.

Phil McGowan & the Easy Winners, BSC favorites, will join us at Extreme Dancesport for another high energy gig! With their New Orleans inspired hot jazz tunes, they will get you out onto the floor all night! The Easy Winners always get the crowd moving when they play for us and and this Friday will be no exception. Digging deep into their catalog of hits from the past, they’ll light fire to tunes like the 1921 Eddie Cantor hit: “Margie” and Louis Armstrong’s “You Rascal You”.
